How to get the app

The app enables the user to record and track their snoring. By placing your mobile device at your bedside, it records your snoring. For each sleep session the app calculates a snore score, which is a measure of snoring intensity, and provides a report showing when and how loudly you snored, with a selection of audio samples.

The app is helpful for people with snoring problems to assess their snoring patterns. It may be useful for assessing the impact of snoring remedies or other lifestyle changes (eg, reduction in alcohol intake, weight loss, medications) on snoring.

The free version of the app has basic features and in-app advertising. The user is encouraged to upgrade to the paid version ($8.49) to access additional features, including data export and an ad-free option.

Note: The app is not suitable if there are 2 snorers in the room. For a more detailed description of the app, see Google Play(external link) or iTunes(external link) and, for a detailed review, see reviews below.

Comments: This app records and tracks snoring, allowing the user to monitor the effectiveness of different treatment strategies. This app has limited use. It would be most useful for those looking to reduce snoring because of bed partner disturbance. Users can monitor snoring while trialing different snore reduction interventions; however, the free version has very limited sessions. It won’t be very useful if both bed partners snore as it can’t distinguish snorers. I do not recommend this app for those with possible sleep apnoea. It does not replace a proper sleep study and it can’t diagnose sleep apnoea. Please also note that many of the remedies listed on the app do not have evidence of working, such as nasal strips, throat sprays and air purifiers.
Safety concerns: No advice about when to see a health professional.
