How to get the app

This app was created in collaboration with Julia Samuel, a leading grief psychotherapist and author.  It provides support to anyone who's experiencing the pain of grief, and those in support roles, including therapists.  When you register, you're first asked what support you're seeking – for your own grief, supporting others or as a therapist. Based on your responses, this is followed by a tailored introduction video from Julia.

You're then asked to set up your daily reflections choosing what time of morning and evening you'd like to be prompted to do so.

A 28 session course is available and you can complete modules at your own pace. Each module starts with the option of a video or written explanation, and then a practise which allows you to enter personalised responses.

There are over 30 interactive tools including mindfulness, self compassion and reflective exercises.

You can join a community which links to a facebook page, you can sign up for regular live sessions where resources and advice are shared, and you have access to 24/7 live chat support with a therapist.

Comments: This is a great app, designed in collaboration with a leading expert on grief, Julia Samuel. It offers a warm and compassionate combination of modules that you can work through at your own pace, as well as tools to put lessons into real life action. Whilst acknowledging that every experience of grief and loss is unique and different, it offers guided informed advice to help you work towards your ‘new normal’.
It is a paid app but well worth the investment given the large amount of valuable interactive content that's tailored to your responses. It features excellent community and individual support, with regular group sessions offered and access to a text chat therapist.
Highly recommend – suitable for those experiencing bereavement, as well as those in support roles, including therapists.

Safety concerns: None.
New Zealand relevance: Yes, although this app is UK based, it is relevant to a New Zealand audience.
