How to get the app

This app is helpful for users who wish to improve their foot function. This could range from those users with a particular foot pathology (eg plantar fasciitis), or other users who do not currently have pain, but wish to improve their foot function, including stability, balance and flexibility. The app has a few helpful features for these users, including:

  • Education on helpful principles for foot management (these are well packaged into short videos + info) that are easy to access and take on.
  • A range of ‘challenges’ that users can participate in and track progress.
  • A community for social engagement.
  • Further learning on particular topics or pathologies, which a user can access at a cost (Please note, this content hasn’t been reviewed as part of the app review)

PROS CONS

✔ Excellent educational information, and packaged in small chunks which make it quite manageable to take in.

✔ Very helpful ‘get-inspired’ section which has solid foot education, as well as general health, especially a breathing section which is very good.

✔ Helpful challenges as a way of tracking progress.

There is a ‘courses’ section in the app. At the start of the app you complete a questionnaire to work out which courses would be relevant to you. The actual courses are quite indepth (eg. The first one recommended to me was 10 chapters, with 63 exercises) and have a significant cost (eg. $88 New Zealand Dollars). This was not reviewed as part of the app.

Please note- the con is the cost- not the content!

Comments: Overall, this is a helpful app with well-packaged education related to foot function and foot health.
It is likely to be most helpful for users with healthy feet, or with minor pathologies that wish to take independent control for improving their foot function.
There is an extensive ‘courses’ section which contains further learning. This was not reviewed as part of this app, due to the high cost of this section.

Safety concerns: I would recommend this app for users with no current foot pathology, or for users with minor pathology. There are some challenges and exercises that would be better suited for individuals without current injury (and these users would be better to seek the advice of a doctor, podiatrist or physiotherapist before engaging in exercise programmes or challenges.
New Zealand relevance: Yes
Concerns: Generally this app is suitable to NZ users, with the advice given being consistent with what you would expect from a NZ Physiotherapist or podiatrist. However, the “Near Me’ section, which finds local health professionals and footwear stockists, contains no New Zealand suppliers- and wouldn’t be applicable for a NZ user.
