Nijmegen questionnaire

The Nijmegen questionnaire is used to screen patients with dysfunctional breathing such as hyperventilation syndrome.

There are 16 items (related to symptoms of hyperventilation syndrome) to be answered on a 5-point scale ranging from ‘never’ (0) to ‘very often’ (4). A total score of more than 23 out of 64 points suggests significant hyperventilation.
