How to get the app

The Squeezy for women app is designed by specialist pelvic health physiotherapists to help you strengthen your pelvic floor muscles through guided exercises. It has a user-friendly interface and a variety of exercise routines that cater to different fitness levels and allows for easy navigation. The app provides reminders and progress tracking to keep you motivated and on track. It's particularly useful for postnatal recovery and managing urinary incontinence. It has good visual diagrams that allow you to picture the exercises that you're completing, and it has an exercise log that also allows you to track your activity.

PROS CONS 

✔ Developed with input from women’s health physiotherapists, uses evidence-based research and is approved by the NHS (public health system in the UK).

✔ Comprehensive educational information and instructions.

Visual and auditory guided pelvic floor exercises. Has a default exercise program with both quick and slow contractions. This can be customised by a physiotherapist.

Bladder diary with entries for inputs, outputs, incontinence and level of urinary urgency.

Exercises are recorded automatically so you can track your progress.

Reminders.

User-friendly interface allowing for ease of navigation.

Costs $4.99.

✘ A financial grant was received from a drug company, but it was unrestricted. 

✘ Can’t export exercise records.

✘ You can export the bladder diary into PDF or print to your wireless printer. The share option doesn’t allow you to link to other apps like email or any cloud provider.

✘ No section on bladder retraining for those with urge incontinence.

✘ Latest version of the app requires iOS 15.5 or later, which may not be available on older users' mobile devices.

Comments: A great app that addresses key female pelvic floor issues. Good educational content, curated by health professionals. It includes audio and visual content to improve your user experience. This app will be good for a variety of women who are experiencing post-partum issues, pelvic floor pain, incontinence, and other related pelvic issues.
Safety concerns: No. This app uses qualified health professionals to curate information and create exercise plans.
New Zealand relevance: Yes.
