How to access the course |
SeizureSmart Learning – Whānau Course is an online programme offered by Epilepsy New Zealand to support individuals and families living with epilepsy. The course provides broad knowledge about epilepsy, including seizure types, first aid responses, and the development and use of seizure management plans. It also explores how epilepsy can impact daily life.
Enrolment is required. Once enrolled, participants will receive a username and a link from Epilepsy Smart Australia to access the Epilepsy New Zealand course. A link to set the password will also be provided. A personalised certificate will be issued upon achieving a score of more than 80% on the assessment and completing the course evaluation.
The course is self-paced and takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this course participants will be able to:
- understand facts about epilepsy
- identify seizure types and what seizure activity may look like
- understand the seizure management planning process
- know basic first aid responses for seizures
- understand the potential impacts of epilepsy on the lives of people living with epilepsy.
