The app is a compilation of leaflets about acute kidney injury for patients and carers, and healthcare professionals.The app provides the same information as appears on the Think Kidneys website.

✔ Section for patients and health professionals.	✘ Some parts of the app didn’t work for me on android, like the poster section and the share by email function. ✘ As the information is directly taken from individual leaflets, there is copious information repetition. ✘ The app’s focus is on acute kidney injury rather than chronic kidney disease which is a pity. As such, there is important missing information such as about proteinuria, dialysis, sexual function, obesity, smoking, anaemia, depression and vaccination among other topics. ✘ The health professional section has some very detailed and useful information, but again it does not cover all topics.

Comments: Think Kidneys is a national programme in England by the NHS with the aim of improving the care of patients with kidney disease - focusing mainly on acute kidney injury. Think Kidneys is essentially an app version of the British Kidney Patient Association information leaflets. This app is well presented but only has a focus on acute kidney injury. It is a pity that it only has cursory discussion on chronic kidney disease and so many topics are omitted.
The poster section and share by email function didn’t work for me.
Safety concerns: None.
New Zealand relevance: The app occasionally uses British brand names for medications. Some of the information is only relevant to the NHS in England.
