How to get the app

Kupu app is an interactive, fun way to learn te reo Māori. You take a photo of an everyday object and the app gives you the te reo Māori translation, including pronunciation. Because images have lots of information, the app also picks up related words, eg, if you take a photo of a glass of water, the app will return karaihe (glass) and also give you the te reo Māori translation of related words such as tumbler, drink, etc

Kupu uses machine-learning technology for image recognition and it may not get it right every time. Users can use the translation feedback feature to log any translations that don’t seem right.
