How to get the app

Headache Log is a straightforward app that helps you track headaches or migraines by recording key details such as date, duration, severity, type and location of pain, triggers and medications.

The app offers a simple and convenient way to consistently track your headache or migraine patterns, including triggers, symptoms, pain location, severity, and treatments. This tracking can help you identify potential causes or patterns over time, support more informed discussions with healthcare providers, and contribute to better self-management of your condition. The ability to customise medication and trigger lists, view basic graphs, and generate reports (with the paid version) further enhances its usefulness for personal monitoring and sharing relevant information during medical consultations. For the complete app description, go to Google Play(external link) (Android) and for a detailed review, see reviews below.

PROS CONS

Very easy and quick to use.

✔ Allows customisation of lists such as medications, triggers etc

✔ Data can be viewed as a basic graph (paid version allows records to be exported as a spreadsheet).

Headache questions are limited; some clinically important information (such as associated symptoms) would have to be entered manually into the notes section.

Free version has advertising; paid version is ad-free.

: Sarah Wang, Pharmacist
Date of review: June 2025
Platform: Android, however, it's not compatible with all Android devices.
Version: 1.5 Note: This review is based on the free version of the app.
Comments: The Headache Log app offers a straightforward and practical tool if you're looking to track your headaches or migraines, with useful features such as symptom and trigger logging, medication tracking, and basic report generation. Its ease of use and customisable lists make it accessible for everyday monitoring. However, it has notable limitations, including minimal clinical detail and limited device compatibility. While it can support self-monitoring, it should not replace medical advice or professional care.
Safety concerns: You should not rely solely on this app to manage headaches or migraines and you're encouraged to consult a healthcare provider for personalised medical advice and treatment.
New Zealand relevance: Yes.
