PROS | CONS |
---|---|
✔ The app adjusts activities to the user's progress in real-time, increasing or decreasing difficulty based on the user’s success rate in activities. ✔ Intuitive to use - simple interactions within the app (drag and drop) make it easy to use. ✔ The app targets a range of skills targeted through different modules (activities). ✔ Users can turn on/off modules in the settings menu to target skills or skip modules which are not needed. User selects difficulty level when setting up the app. ✔ Users can track their progress within the app “Progress Report” feature. |
✘ App graphics and sound appear quite childish and this might make it less appealing to adult users. ✘ Limited free content. ✘ Instruction voice is quite robotic. The voice is clear and easy to understand, but the pacing and tone may not appeal to some users. |
Clinical review
Reviewer: Lauren Hill, Speech Language Therapist, Auckland
Date of review: July 2025
Platform: Apple
Version: 9.3.4
Comments: The RecoverBrain Language Therapy app has a range of exercises targeting aspects of language comprehension including concepts, attention, memory and visual perception, which may make it a useful tool for individuals recovering from neurological conditions or those with language delays. Childish graphics and sounds may not appeal to all adult users. The free version app contains access to 12 modules and an opportunity to experience other modules before committing to a paid subscription. RecoverBrain Language Therapy is not recommended to completely replace therapy, however it may be a useful tool to support therapy and home practice, or to continue to practice skills after working with a speech language therapist.
