How to get the app |
The RecoverBrain Language Therapy app supports cognitive rehabilitation and language comprehension training. It provides a structured approach with a range of activities in various cognitive fields. You engage with activities aimed at improving your language comprehension, concept understanding, attention, memory, visual perception, attention to detail, and auditory working memory. The app adjusts difficulty based on your progress. You can adjust the number of puzzles and training modules for your daily sessions and increase or decrease the difficulty level.
The app also includes tracking, graphs and reporting features. It includes a progress report feature (found in Settings) that displays your achievement score and success rate information. You can visualise your performance in a table or graph over any time period. This app is most useful if you've experienced cognitive and language deficits, eg, if you're recovering from stroke, or have aphasia, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or a traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Clinical review
Reviewer: Lauren Hill, Speech Language Therapist, Auckland
Date of review: July 2025
Platform: Apple
Version: 9.3.4
Comments: The RecoverBrain Language Therapy app has a range of exercises targeting aspects of language comprehension including concepts, attention, memory and visual perception, which may make it a useful tool if you're recovering from neurological conditions or if you have language delays. You can access structured exercises with the difficulty adapted to your level, to practice a range of language skills within different modules. You can track your progress with reports showing your current level, success rate and number of puzzles solved. However, childish graphics and sounds may not appeal to all adult users.
The free version of the app contains access to 12 modules and an opportunity to experience other modules before committing to a paid subscription. RecoverBrain Language Therapy is not recommended to completely replace therapy, however it may be a useful tool to support therapy and home practice, or to continue to practice skills after working with a speech language therapist.
