What does the app do?

Groov app provides information, activities and videos about mental and emotional wellbeing. It incorporates a mix of scientifically sound information, personal story videos, and practical advice on practices that can help build resilience and cope with stress. It is not designed to be treatment for significant mental health problems, but to prevent them and help support self-care and wellness. PROS CONS

✔ Provides a wide variety of well-supported tools for enhancing resilience and supporting emotional wellbeing.

✔ Nice mix of text and video-based activities and personal stories from a variety of people of different ages, genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds is a strength.

✔ Good information and a variety of explanations and strategies to relax, slow down, and be kind to oneself and others.

✔ Links to more information and other activities including things like finding good news, managing perfectionism, improving sleep and coping with COVID.

✘ Video instructions may work for some, but the lack of instructions in text form can be inconvenient – for example, when using the mood tracker, I had a very hard time figuring out where I could see the record of ratings; the only way I could find this out was to re-watch the video.

✘ Some videos appear over ambitious, for example an entire gratitude, values, and self-confidence exercise all in 4 minutes. (Read more: see Reviews)

✘ App appears unstable – several videos stop playing.
