How to get the app

FodMate is designed to support people who are following the low FODMAP diet with clear and visual ‘traffic light’ ratings of common foods and drinks.

The color-coded system (green, orange, and red) makes it immediately clear which foods are safe, which foods should be eaten in moderation, and which foods should be avoided based on the FODMAP content.

The app includes serving sizes to help individuals understand the amount of certain foods they can safely consume.

The app is educational and should not replace any personalised advice from your health professional.

Comments: This App is nicely presented and is a visual way to search whether a food (and it’s serving size) is high, medium or low FODMAP.
The app is not affiliated with or endorsed by any reputable health or educational organisations and is less comprehensive than similar apps (i.e. Monash FODMAP) which provide guidance, educational content and tools to support each stage of the FODMAP diet.
The app is best suited people who have completed all 3 stages of the low FODMAP diet and understands their level of tolerance and sensitivities. It would suit someone who doesn’t want to pay for an app and wants a quick guide to assist during grocery shopping or while eating out.
It would be ideal if the app included the FODMAP sub-type so that people with specific sensitivities have a greater level of detail to help them decide whether the food or drink is suitable for them.

Safety concerns: FodMate app should be used as a guide and is not a replacement for health professional advice.
New Zealand relevance: Yes
Concerns: There are foods consumed in NZ by specific cultural groups that were not listed i.e. mussels, different varieties of kumara, chapati etc.
