Comments: FitOn is a versatile and accessible app that offers a wide range of workouts at no cost, making it appealing for those who want to stay active without a gym. While the lack of individual feedback means users should take care with technique, it provides a motivating, affordable and flexible way to support fitness and wellbeing.
Safety concerns: The app offers limited personalisation. While there are plans based on goals, the workouts are not tailored to an individual’s health needs, injuries or limitations. Also the app has no direct coaching which means that users don’t get real-time feedback on their form, which can increase the risk of injury if exercises are done incorrectly. In addition, the app does not consider rehabilitation needs, especially for people recovering from injury, surgery or managing long-term conditions who may need personalised coaching or physiotherapy advice rather than general online workouts.
New Zealand relevance: Yes the app is relevant to New Zealand users. FitOn is widely accessible and can be a cost-effective way for New Zealanders to exercise at home or outdoors. Its wide variety of workout styles and levels makes it relevant for people with different needs, abilities, and fitness goals.
