AskPCOS app
AskPCOS app
- An app for people with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
The AskPCOS app provides articles about PCOS and education on important related-topics such as causes, diagnosis and symptoms, fertility, periods and long-term health conditions. The app's main focus is education about PCOS and how it can affect different areas of your life, and which lifestyle interventions may be helpful. This can be accessed without an account. Having an account allows you to record and track your symptoms and for graphs of these to be generated. This requires data to be entered over a one-month period. Recording and tracking of symptoms may be helpful as it enables you to monitor them over time, and share your data with healthcare providers.

✔ Free app. ✔ Easy to use with nice design and no ads. ✔ Lots of evidence-based articles on various PCOS-related topics. Information is clear and easy to understand. ✔ A forum is available and is monitored by moderators who reply to some comments with recommendations. |
✘ Symptom tracking is limited to choosing descriptors in the app. Some of the descriptors are quite vague (sleep problems) and it's not possible to record more detail. ✘ Data on symptom tracking can’t be exported. ✘ The app was last updated 1 year ago. |

Comments: The AskPCOS app is good for getting more information about PCOS. Information is shared in a clear format, which is easy to understand. The app is designed by Monash University, uses evidence-based information and is also not for profit. But if you wanted an app specifically to track symptoms, this is probably not the best choice as it lacks detail in symptom tracking. This app is a great choice for getting more information about PCOS.
Safety concerns: As the forum has posts from users and can be commented on by other users, there may be misleading or unsafe information shared. The forum is monitored by moderators who comment on some of the posts, however it is not clear what qualifications the moderators have.
