How to get the app |
The AlcoDroid Alcohol Tracker app helps you track your alcohol consumption by logging each drink and estimating blood alcohol concentration (BAC) over time. It uses personal inputs like weight and gender to provide a BAC curve and estimate when you'll be sober. The app also includes goal-setting and can track spending, and has the ability to export alcohol use data. Some basic educational content on BAC levels and their effects is also included. Clinical review

Comments: AlcoDroid is a free Android app designed for individuals who want to monitor their alcohol consumption and better understand their drinking habits. It raises awareness of how much and how often you drink, supports goal setting by tracking progress toward reducing intake, and encourages personal accountability through consistent drink logging. The app offers features such as manual drink logging, estimated blood alcohol concentration (BAC) graphs, cost tracking, and educational information about the effects of alcohol. You can also export your drinking data for review or sharing. While the app is easy to use and customisable, it should be noted that BAC estimates are approximate and the app is not a substitute for professional medical advice or legal guidance.
Safety concerns: AlcoDroid’s BAC estimates are rough guides only and should not be relied on for legal or safety-critical decisions such as driving, as the app does not explain how these calculations are made. It lacks professional oversight, medical guidance, and harm-reduction features, making it unsuitable if you need clinical support or safety alerts. While useful for tracking, it should be used cautiously and not as a substitute for informed medical or legal judgment.
New Zealand relevance: Yes.
