How to get the app

BreastFed NZ app provides information about various aspects of breastfeeding, from how to prepare for breastfeeding during pregnancy, the first few days, the early weeks through to weaning and everything in between.

  • The app provides guidance on common issues such as latching and positioning baby and breast care. In addition, the app has information on maternal well-being, whānau support, breastfeeding twins, breastfeeding premature babies and returning to work.
  • Meaningful, personal stories are interwoven with evidence-based information on a variety of breastfeeding topics. Information on how to get on-going support is also provided.

The app is divided into 20 main sections, with each section comprising a few subsections.

  • In addition, the app has a search bar so users can quickly search for information and support.
  • Users can also bookmark information within the app to return to at a later time.
  • Content comprises written content, infographics, images, videos and other resources. There is good use of colour to divide sections of texts such as tips.
  • At the start of the app there is a “language used ”section which gives the meaning of the Te Reo words and other medical terms used in the app.
  • Also care has been taken to incorporate gender neutral language within the app.
