Comments: Zoom is a pharmacy based in Auckland that has an app that allows online ordering and delivery of unfunded medications through New Zealand, and funded medications in certain areas (see their website). It is fantastic that they are offering this type of service and it would cater very well to certain people. If your GP offers online medication repeats, you can now feasibly get your medication delivered all through using your smartphone.
It would probably be a better fit for executive types: those who don’t require the face to face pharmacy relationship, those who are younger and on fewer medication, those who are in a position to be able to have packages delivered to their work, and those who can afford the $5 delivery fee.
For those on regular medications, you need to ask yourself if you will alternate between your local pharmacy for when you see your GP and Zoom for repeats, or will you pay your GP practice extra for faxing and mailing the script to Zoom after each face to face consult? And what will you do if you need something urgently?
